Kissing Strangers is Now Live!

Kissing Strangers is a one of a kind poetry collection because it is not my normal genre nor to I plan on writing one like it ever again. It all started about 5 years ago when someone commented that the don’t particularly like my dark poetry and that I should write something a little less dismal. So what do I do? I hear a challenge and told myself that I am going to write a book of love poems (puke).

It took 5 whole years, working on it in between other projects. It gave me nightmares that I wouldn’t be able to finish it because it seemed so forced and not authentic. BUT, when I am challenged, I will get it done and I will over exceed my expectations. I am happy to report that it is finally complete and I do have to say, I’m really excited about how it turned out. I’m also excited it’s over and I can go back to my stormy, punch throat writing. *If you purchase Kissing Strangers, please consider writing a review. It only have to be a few sentences. It helps to support the author (me) and gets the work out about the book.

Talking to Ghosts in the Garden

quiet ripples

mist incasing

every inch of silence

hide and seek

with the moon

between branches of oak

whispers heard

from silhouettes

of wildflowers

haunts of yesterday’s

memories looming

behind the magnolia

thistle dressed in

early morning dew glistening

between luner and star

in the wake of life

today has softly danced

into tomorrow’s dream

(C) S. Lynette, 2025

Synchronized Circles

Synchronized circles

Left by invaders

In midnight dreams

That leave one dead

Is what the headline reads

This is Mississippi

Summer heat junction

Mirage central

When looking down

A barrel

A war in my mouth

Ready to springboard

Off my tongue

His name written out

In razor blades

A tyrant choking

on strategically placed

metamorphic symbols

All in the same space

When time is ready to fall

His flesh will tell the

Story of a departed man

(C) S. Lynette, 2024

After peeling back husks

after peeling back husks

of dead winters

and shapeless bodies

God can’t save you

it all stays the same

nothing more

nothing less

trapped in headless desolate dreams

fondling the serrated blade

that cut your fruit wide open

Just to tell you

that you were never here

to begin with

(C) S. Lynette, 2024 (intro to Mike Zone’s book, Skull to My Daisy)

This Body

i used to trick

the others

but it’s starting

to give out

it’s tired

worn and

filling up

with so much

“don’t give

a shit” thoughts

it has become a

disgrace to

wear it

this was printed

on the warning label

but i chose to

ignore the

possibility

it would let

me down

like all the

others before

i wasn’t made

for all this

bullshit

i wasn’t made

for the times

of fallen suns

in life you wear

many avatars

that never quite fit

in the right places

but you’re lucky

when you do find one

that hugs all the corners

(C) Shannon Lynette, 2024 (from her book, I’m Not Dead)
